Plant Air Purification
An indoor plant's ability to remove harmful compounds from the air is an example of Phytoremediation, which is the use of plants to mitigate pollutants in the air. Studies by scientist at Nasa, Pennsylvania State University, University of Georgia and other respected institutions have found that plants can absorb many gases including Carbon Dioxide, Benzene (found in some plastics, fabrics, pesticides, cigarette smoke) and Formaldehyde (found in some cosmetics, dish detergent, fabric softener and carpet cleaner) these are examples of common indoor VOC's (Volatile Organic Compound) that plants help eliminate. VOC's have been linked to acute conditions such as; Asthma, Nausea, cancer, and respiratory diseases.
